This is my final blog post for this class. This class, Digital Photography 1, is a great introduction to photography in the digital world. It shows the proper ways to take a picture, along with how to edit them and make them appear better. It does all this while still being a fun, and easy(to some extent) class. When I first started this class, I was a little worried that I wouldn't catch onto the photoshop parts of the class. As it turns out, that ended up being my favorite part of the class. I looked forward to coming photoshop assignments by the end of the class. To me, it is so fun to take a picture and have the ability to completely change it. However, I could have done a few things better. I wasn't always great at turning photos every week. I would forget, and just not have time. It was not difficult to do; more so that I just struggled to find time to take good pictures with sports and other classes. This class did help to improve how good I am at taking and editing pictures. I went from barely being able to use manual camera settings to actually preferring to use manual settings. It gives more control of the camera, and thus, the photo you are taking. You can change the shutter speed to show motion blur or you can freeze an action in place. You can also change the aperture to change the depth of field. Here is one of my first photos that I turned in, compared to the last I turned in. As you can see, the photos have improved: from the actual composition to the editing done to the photos.

Assignment DescriptionFor this assignment, we had to edit photos together in photoshop to make puns. Here is mine. This assignment was fun because it did not have a limit of what you could make. You could do very simple photos, or you could do complicated photos.
Assignment DescriptionFor this assignment, I had to take pictures and change them to black and white. Here are my photos. Shutter Speed - 1/640 Aperture - 8.0 ISO - 400 The only editing I did for this photo was desaturating the photo for black and white. For these photos, I also desaturated them for black and white. This assignment was fun and easy to do. You did not have one specific subject to photograph, so it was easy to let the creativity flow.
Assignment DescriptionFor this assignment, I had to take pictures of people and combine them into one photo using photo stacks and layer masking. Here are my photos. This assignment was very fun to do, and it became easier once I got into it. It seems complicated, and it isn't. I could have done more complicated photos, but even the simple versions of these photos look cool.
Assignment DescriptionIn this assignment, we learned how to use different selection methods, and how to compose different photographs using photoshop. Here are my photos Before photoshopAfter photoshopBefore photoshopAfter photoshopThis assignment was fun because we got to mess around and put whatever we wanted. You got a lot of freedom, and it was nice.
Assignment DescriptionIn this assignment, I had to take pictures of landscapes. Here are my photos. Aperture - f6.3 Shutter Speed - 1/1600 ISO - 400 There was no editing done to these photos. I learned how to take wide photos of landscapes. I could work more on the actual composition of the photos.
Assignment DescriptionIn this assignment, we became more familiar with the manual setting for the cameras, and we learned how to use the photomerge setting in photoshop to make panoramic photos. Here are my photos I learned how take panoramic photos, and further learned how to edit them in photoshop.
Assignment DescriptionIn this assignment, we further familiarized ourselves with photoshop. We learned how to use cropping, the clone tool, selection tools, etc. We were given a car tp touch up with these tools. Here are my photos. Original PhotoEdited PhotosReflectionI learned how to use many tools I was relatively unfamiliar with. I still need a bit of work on the shadows and touching up the colors of the car, but I felt the first assignment went well.
Assignment DescriptionFor this assignment, we had to take pictures of a subject of our choosing. I originally went for people, but I switched to architecture. Here are my photos. Aperture - f8.0 Shutter Speed - 1/250 ISO - 100 Here are 5 other photos I took. SummaryI learned I need to work on the perspective of the buildings. For some, there was only so close I could get, but for a few, I could have been closer.
Assignment DescriptionIn this assignment, we began using photoshop. Specifically, we learned how to adjust the colors and saturation of photos. We were told to make them in a specific 'Pop Art' way. Here are my photos. Pop Art 1Pop Art 2Original PhotosWhat I LearnedIn this assignment I learned how to use a few things. I had a general knowledge of photoshop previously, but I had never messed with the colors how we did in this assignment. Specifically, I had never used any of the filters, nor the threshold dialog. I knew they were there previously, but I had never really messed with them.
